Andrea and Blake Brown ’68 recently made a three-year, $1 million commitment to Webb and purposely structured their commitment to help Webb accomplish several important goals in the critical period leading up to Webb’s Centennial celebration. Their generous commitment will be used to support The Webb Fund at $10,000 each year and to provide $300,000 per year to capital, endowment or programming needs to be determined by the Browns and Webb. The remaining $70,000 will fund a unique and specific opportunity that arises during the gift period and will be determined by the Browns and Webb.
In devising this approach, the Browns wished to provide a three-year commitment to The Webb Fund to help build this critical gift stream that is used in planning annual budgets and also to provide significant funding to aid in the large priorities and opportunities that will be accomplished in The Centennial. In addition, according to Blake, a member of the Board of Trustees and The Campaign Executive Committee, “We wanted to reserve the balance of this commitment so that Webb could respond to a unique opportunity that would further advance Webb in a way that will present itself, not necessarily today but in the next few years. Our investment is to support and celebrate Webb’s future and we hope many others will join with us.”

The Browns’ creative gift arrangement provides the Webb community with significant opportunities and flexibility. As the world of education evolves at an ever-faster pace, this is a particularly thoughtful gift as Webb celebrates The Centennial Years and prepares for its second century, and an example of the Browns’ leadership.
