Michael ’92 and Alicia Chang P ’23 Create Scholarship Fund

Webb Trustee Michael Chang ’92, P ’23 and his wife, Alicia P ’23, have found many ways to support Webb over the years, sharing their time, their resources, their skills and even opening up their home to the Webb community, hosting the annual Webb San Francisco Holiday Party.

As a Webb trustee, Michael Chang serves on the Community of the Schools Committee. That assignment has given him an opportunity to not only understand Webb’s mission on a deep level, but to understand how that mission is supported. The couple established the Michael ’92 and Alicia Chang Scholarship Fund in 2012, in honor of his 20th reunion at Webb. This permanent, endowed fund provides financial aid to boarding students from California. Now that the Changs are Webb parents (their son, Ian, is a member of the WSC class of 2023,) they see firsthand the impact that financial aid has on Webb.

“There is nothing more important than helping Webb to provide access to students who will thrive at Webb, and then go on and make a difference in the world,” according to the Changs.

In addition to establishing their scholarship fund, the couple supports The Webb Fund, which provides opportunities to each Webb student and each member of the Webb faculty. They have also created a deferred gift (or planned gift) from their estate that will benefit Webb far into the future. This thoughtful mix of giving provides Webb with both immediate and long-term support, significantly strengthening Webb’s foundation.

Open Webb to the World

We must dramatically increase financial aid endowment to ensure Webb can enroll and support every student with the drive to succeed and passion to contribute to our schools.
